What are the advantages of epoxy zinc-rich primer?
Release time:2022-09-30
Epoxy Zinc-Rich Primer It is a coating composed of epoxy resin, zinc phosphate, rust-proof pigments, additives, solvents, and curing agents. It can be used for steel structures, pipelines, machinery and equipment, storage tanks, etc. It can also be used for anti-corrosion coating in chemical, fertilizer, power plants, papermaking, and sewage treatment plants. Epoxy zinc-rich primer has many advantages, such as strong anti-corrosion ability; fast drying speed, good construction performance; good adhesion to galvanized sheets, aluminum alloys and other metal substrates.
The advantages of epoxy zinc-rich primer are explained in detail below.
1. It has anti-corrosion ability
Epoxy zinc-rich primer uses zinc phosphate as the main rust-proof pigment. Through hydrolysis, it forms a complex with strong adhesion and corrosion resistance, phosphatizing the surface of the metal substrate, playing a good corrosion inhibition and shielding role.
2. Fast drying speed, good construction performance
Epoxy Zinc-Rich Primer It is a two-component coating that can self-dry at room temperature, but the performance is better after drying. Excellent construction performance.
3. Good adhesion to galvanized sheets, aluminum alloys and other metal substrates.
Epoxy zinc-rich primer has very low requirements for substrate treatment. It can be directly applied to the surface of steel with rust removal quality reaching Sa2.5, or directly applied to the surface of weldable primer in the workshop.
Epoxy Zinc-Rich Primer It is currently the main type of primer for corrosion and rust prevention of steel structures in the atmospheric environment, and the technology is very mature. It is made from epoxy resin and zinc powder, with the addition of thickeners, pigments, additives and solvents. It is mainly used for coating the inner and outer walls of steel pipes, money cans, steel structures and containers. Performance: First of all, as a primer, it has strong adhesion to the substrate, good mechanical properties, and excellent anti-corrosion performance. Due to the role of zinc powder, it will produce cathodic protection and good conductivity to the substrate. After one coat, the coating is greater than 75m, which can be pre-coated in the workshop, or used as a rust-proof primer for pipelines or gas cylinders. However, epoxy zinc-rich primer still has various construction problems. The following are some precautions for epoxy zinc-rich primer:
Before coating, the surface must be cleaned, paying attention to the difference in temperature and humidity. Adjust the viscosity to the optimum by dilution, and the coating should be carried out strictly according to the standard. Airless spraying or air spraying should be used. Small area repairs can be done by brushing. Roller coating is generally not recommended. Roller coating is also not recommended for matching paints such as epoxy micaceous iron oxide, acrylic polyurethane topcoats, and fluorocarbon topcoats.
Spraying should start within 4 hours after sandblasting or dynamic rust removal, especially in areas with high air humidity or smoke corrosion by the sea. After the surface treatment is qualified, painting should start immediately.
If the coating period is exceeded, grinding and cleaning should be carried out to effectively remove the powder layer and zinc salts on the surface of the zinc-rich primer.
